Top 4 Plants For Those Lacking a Green Thumb

mintPlain and simple, gardening isn’t for everyone. While some people are naturals and love to get their hands dirty, others dread the very thought of it every time spring rolls around. Don’t worry, though. If you’re one of those people lacking a green thumb, we came up with a list of plants that anyone and everyone can successfully grow. Check it out below:

1. Basil

  • If you’re someone who expects immediate results from their garden, the basil plant is the one for you. With its flavorful, large leaves, this plant grows so fast that you’ll be harvesting before you know it. Plus, it comes in a bunch of different varieties, so there’s a type for everyone. All it requires is some sun and soil full of organic nutrients, so it’s low maintenance.

2. Mint

  • Mint is another herb that’s great for beginners, because it requires very little on your part. Unlike other plants, it doesn’t need to be fed a ton of nutrients to thrive. Instead, all it wants is water and sun. However, if you can’t find a place where the mint plant can soak in the UV rays, a shaded spot will work out just as well.

3. Zucchini

  • What makes zucchini so easy to grow? Well, it only needs three different elements to survive. First, give it plenty of room in your garden to branch out and develop. Second, make sure it receives enough sunlight daily, so either place it in a windowsill to soak up the UV rays or find an open area in your garden. Lastly, like practically any living thing, the zucchini plant has to be watered. This way it won’t dry up and die. Once you’ve provided your plant with all that, you’re done.

4. Nigella

  • Looking for a beautiful plant to grow that takes absolutely no effort from you? If so, pick up some nigella seeds from your local nursery. All you have to do to harvest this jewel-like flower is scatter some seeds across bare soil. That’s it. From there, it will nurture itself and even set seed for the following year. With properties like this, what’s not to love?
