One of the best times to start considering starting a garden can be as early as March or April. Spring is just starting to come back around to heat everything up. If you start to notice the days are warmer, you may want to consider starting your garden earlier. While typically the days can still be chilly, some plants like spinach actually do well in the cold weather. You can start growing plants that thrive in cool temperatures right away. This way you’ll be able to start reaping the benefits as early as possible. You’ll also be able to make the best of the cool weather.
Early Summer Months
If you want to grow plants that require more sunlight, why not start off in the early summer months? The days are just starting to get really warm to where the chill has left the air. Tomatoes are just an example of plants who love to bask in the sun, and the more sun they receive, the better. Since the days are getting longer, plant some sun-loving vegetables in May as soon as possible. Cucumbers are another sun-loving plant that prefers it warm, and towards the end of the summer you’ll soon be stocked up on several of your favorite vegetables. Peppers are another sun loving vegetable as well you may enjoy growing.
A Sunny Window
If you have a window that faces the sun you can start some plants off anytime of the year. You can even grow small herbs such as basil, spinach, and even thyme indoors. These plants do well in general sunlight. As long as the temperature of the house is kept at steady, these plants will survive year round. All you’ll have to do is give them fertilizer and water them from time to time. This way you can reap the benefits no matter what time of the year it is.
