This has to be the cutest, most creative way to garden that I have ever seen. If you have a grand imagination your miniature garden could be a magical place to envision, with fairies, furniture and small animals. It can be as big or small as you want it to be, and miniature gardening is something that you can do and enjoy all year long. Sounds good, huh? Well, here’s how to get started making your own.
Creating a garden
The great thing about this project is that you can create a miniature garden out of almost anything. If you have some old things laying around that you want to get rid of, take a second look to see if you can turn it into a miniature garden. An old basket, bowl, car tire, pan, bird bath, pot, or a small piece of earth in your yard can become a great starting point as a container. Once you have your container, fill it with potting soil and make sure it has good drainage. Now decide what your design is going to be. Will you need to have a path, houses, bridges, or something else? Lay out your design and plant around it.
Next, choose the plants you would like to use and make sure they have practically the same needs when it comes to water and sun. Take the plants out of their pots and replant them in the space that you have in your new container. By doing your planting first you will avoid getting dirt into your other special detailing. After putting in paths or a house, you can fill the space with Irish moss to give it some ground covering. It will look similar to grass. Now add your other accessories and water your plants. The finished product should look like a small yard for little people or fairies.
Finding miniature accessories
There are actual stores that specialize in miniature gardening that can supply all of your needs. You will be pleasantly surprised at all of the miniature objects that are available for your little garden. There may even be some items in places like Home Depot, and Wal-Mart. You can also find a lot of supplies online at www.Amazon.com , www.miniature-garden.com and www.myfairygardens.com.
Do some research for other sites that will provide other miniature accessories as well. There is a lot out there, so have fun creating the amazing garden of your dreams. It looks like a lot of fun and I can’t wait to make one of my own.
